March Misc. Things

3/3/15
When we bought our house, I did NOT like the front door.  At all.  I knew that I wanted to replace it but never had the time to address it.  Until now.  After a couple of estimates, my new door was averaging $3200!!  Then I took a step back and realized that I didn't like the foyer being dark and yellow all of the time.  That's when I decided that the glass was the problem and I could live with the door.  As long as we repainted it.  The glass and installation was averaging around $500.  That price point was definitely better until Jeremiah had an idea.  He recommended that we order the glass and he install it.  So that's what we did!

I ordered the glass and we were so excited!  Out of dozens of glasses to choose from, I was down to three.  Flemish, rolled gluechip, and taffeta.  In the end I chose flemish.  It was clear like we wanted but still gave us the privacy that we needed.  Jeremiah took one of the glass panels out to see what the foyer would like without the yellow lead glass.  The natural clear sunlight was beautiful.  On 3/18/15 we had the exterior door painted brown to match the rest of the house.

The pictures on the left are the "before".  The right side are the "after".  Goodbye yellow lead glass and hello clear flemish glass!!  So much light comes into the foyer now!  It took a few days to adjust to the new lighting.  I kept asking "who left the front door open?!"  We took the hardware  off the front door of our previous house because we loved it so much.  That front door looks great now!

3/6/15
Sophia was learning to go up the stairs.  We used her favorite toy to motivate her.  Her physical and occupational therapists use the stairs as part of her therapy.  I'm guessing that she never went up on this day because I would've gotten a picture of that!

3/7/15
I was cooking dinner one night and suddenly, I had THREE pairs of eyes watching me.  I knew Sophia was there but Scarlett and Savannah decided to join her.  I was tickled that they made themselves all comfy and cozy...just to watch me cook dinner.  Love my sweeties!

February Summation

2/12/15
Savannah's Valentine's Day party at school.  Don't know what her facial expression is about but I love it!

2/19/15
Scarlett's spring concert at school.  There are four classes in her pod and this is her pod, Pod A.

2/23/15
The first snow day of the year!  The girls couldn't WAIT to go outside.  They made several snow angels and had a blast doing it!

Snow angels in the making!

When Jeremiah came home, he joined the girls outside.  Of course!

It wasn't long before he placed the girls in a rubbermaid container and sent them flying down the driveway!

2/27/15
On another snow day, Sophia fell asleep while she was playing...sitting up.  Then, the girls wanted to play in the show with bare feet because daddy did it.  Finally, the girls and Jeremiah had a snowball fight.  He thought it would be hilarious if he threw snowballs at me while I was watching him.  I would've been fine with it except that he was throwing them so hard.  You should've heard the bass from those things!  I just knew he was going to break my window.  After a few hours of fun, everyone went down for naps!

Sophia's 3rd Birthday

Sophia turned 3 years old on February 9, 2015!  We love this girl SO much!!  We are also very thankful that she is still here with us.  It's been quite the journey and she has been worth it!  We celebrated her birthday all day long!

We took a lot of pictures!

For dinner it was TGIFriday's!  The waiters and waitresses sang happy birthday to her and she just LOVED it!  Afterwards, we went home for more singing and birthday cake for the birthday girl!  It was a great day!

The next morning, we celebrated the fact that she was officially home longer than she was in the hospital.  18 months and one day.  Don't judge us.  We celebrate EVERY one of this girl's milestones!

Sophia's New Wheelchair

On January 23, Sophia's wheelchair arrived!  In order for her to go to school, she needed a wheelchair so that she could ride the bus.  We (Sophia's physical therapist, nurse, and I) spent a few hours selecting a style.  Then it took me a while to decide on a color.

I had all these colors to choose from.  It didn't take long for me to realize that I wanted a purple chair.

Then it took me forever to pick a purple.  Seriously?!  How many shades of purple could I choose from?!  Oh, the agony!  The agony!!

The wheelchair finally arrived and we all loved it!  We loaded her up as if we were about to travel and everything fit.  I love that her name is embroidered on the seat!

Christmas 2014

Christmas pictures after church.  Sophia was in a mood but finally smiled for me.  Then her mood returned.  One day, I'll get my "perfect Prickett picture".  Until then I'll just enjoy us the way we are!

Christmas morning!  Let the unwrapping begin!!

Savannah is still into Spiderman and Scarlett still loves Hello Kitty!

The aftermath of opening gifts in the playroom.  A few hours later my parents and siblings came over.  Then, we had Christmas all over again in the downstairs living room.

Kesha Rogers & Ian Overton

On December 15, 2014, Kesha Rogers (politician), and Ian Overton,(husband and campaign manager) stopped by for a visit.  She ran for the U.S. Senate and was defeated.  Anyway, I was eating lunch and preparing to pick Scarlett up from school when the doorbell rang.  It was these two!
We visited for a few minutes until I had to leave.  Jeremiah came home and asked me about my day.  I told him Kesha stopped by and he said "Kesha who?  Who's Kesha?"  I told him Kesha Rogers.  He was so surprise and very disappointed that he missed them.  Jeremiah is WAY more into politics than I am and I'm not sure how he found out about her.  We went to one of Kesha's town hall meetings and Jeremiah became a supporter.  Then he missed their visit.

I told them I needed TONS of pictures for Jeremiah because he was not going to believe this.  They happily obliged!

Savannah's 4th Birthday

Savannah turned 4 years old on December 12, 2014!  There are so many things that I love about this girl.  One second she can have a mean streak.  The next second she is equally sweet.  If anyone falls asleep, she will find a blanket and cover them.  She gives me random kisses and will stroke my face so tenderly.  It's the sweetest thing EVER.  When we are out and about, she always think of Scarlett.  If someone gives her something, she'll say, "may I have one for my sister?"  She is so independent and doesn't need much help with most things.  She's helpful around the house, too!  She loves to conduct FHE as well as teach the lesson and prepare the activity.  She is great about saying her prayers.  I could on and on about this girl but let's get on with her day.  And it was quite a day, too!

The day started with a class birthday party in her honor.  Mrs. Talley, her teacher, pretty much did everything.  The only thing I did was show up with cupcakes.  Love her!  Then, Jeremiah made a surprise visit and Savannah was all smiles!  She is a daddy's girl 100%!  She was SO excited and it completely made her day!

One of her birthday requests was to go to the park.  After I picked Scarlett up from school, that's where we headed.  She LOVES being outside and going to the park.  In the bottom two pics of her by herself, she slid right off the slide and hit the ground.  Her response?  She laughed at herself and I loved it!

To wrap up her day, she requested dinner at TGIFridays!  The staff sang to her and she received a HUGE serving of ice cream.  As a bonus, Scarlett received free ice cream, too...just because.  OH!!  I think our waiter hooked us up with it.  He is awesome and we usually request him when we go to TGIFridays.  Good lookin' out my friend :o)

Thanksgiving Class Party

Scarlett had a Thanksgiving party at school.  The room mom caught the flu at the last minute.  Then, through a series of events, I ended up being in charge of the party.  It was a pretty good party considering I only had 12 hours to pull it off.  Most of the planning was done.  The only thing that I had to do was make it all come together.

 Chick-fil-A for lunch.

Scarlett helping Savannah with her craft.

Craft finally finished!
